Customer Response

BEWARE THE COMPANY WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT
DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR, DO NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. I HAVE HAD THREE. ALL OF THEM HAVE BROKEN DOWN. THE COMPANY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.....UNLESS YOU PAY TO HAVE REPAIRED

This is a piece of JUNK
I bought this to replace a 20 year old Krups coffee maker, which still worked flawlessly, but did not have an integrated grinder or timer. In short, I weakened to the siren song of more bells and whistles! I have owned the Capresso for over six months, and will state firmly that it is the poorest coffee maker I have ever purchased, and ironically the most expensive. I have read the manual, and it is totally impossible to get the strength of coffee I want, unless I put enough water in for only about 6 cups. I have tested different settings trying to get closer to a perfect cup of coffee to no avail, and so have been adding pre-ground beans to the basket since the first week of owning it in order to get a robust cup of coffee, despite having it on the stongest setting. If you want a coffee maker that costs a lot of money and still manages to make high quality beans taste like something out of a can at a diner, this is the machine for you. Don't buy this machine!!!! If I could rate it at 1/4 star, I would do so.

Best coffee maker
We had this coffee maker for 10 years, making coffee everyday, and it was the simply great. The element went out and replaced it with a reconditioned model. Bought the reconditioned coffee maker because we wanted a white coffee maker, the company now only makes black coffee makers in this model. I was hesitant to buy a reconditioned coffee maker, but we see no difference between this reconditioned coffee maker and a new one. We found no marks at all, looks great, and makes simply wonderful coffee.

Grider problems
Have had erratic grinding time problems. Sometimes it will grind for the right amount of water other times it keeps running and will grind all the coffee. I now grind my coffee in another grinder and use the pot manually.

The only coffeemaker for us!
The 454 is not perfect, but neither am I. We've only had it 3 weeks, but I'm not afraid to say that it's the best coffeemaker we've ever had (of more than 12 over counting office ones). The local Bed & Bath ordered it for us and with their famous "20% Off" coupon, shipped it to our door in 3 business days with no shipping charges - [...] plus tax total! A little problem with taste adjustments at first - like it moderately strong - but found that if you use about 9.5 cups water, use strong Columbian, and set the flavor to strong, it makes great coffee (Blue Mountain is even better). No more coffee dust on the counter from our separate burr grinder/Braun combo and no more swearing at the ever-problematic, impossible-to-clean Cuisinart Grind & Brew that thankfully died after about 6 months. We won't even bother shipping that piece of junk in for repairs - besides the painful cleaning & drying process which delayed successive pots of coffee, the buttons and knob switches often didn't work and finally just stopped totally. Now if this lasts 4-5 years or more, we'll be perfectly happy.
