Customer Response
Don't buy for longevity.
Have had the machine for just over a year and the front plastic pannel is leaking. We have also had to keep a towel under for the entire time because coffee often leaked while pouring. And, not to beat a dead horse, but condensation forms on the top and drops onto the back of the machine where our cord is when the lid is lifted.
Okay for the price.
I received this coffee maker as a gift and it worked pretty well for awhile for about a year. However, just this week-I decided to clean it with CLR and the thing stopped working!!! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say i bought another Hamilton Beach coffee maker (with a carafe) to replace this one. Pros: Programmable, no carafe so you can just fill your mug, holds a large quantity of coffee (great for company) and shuts off after 2 hrs. Cons: it got dirty on the inside very easily, and it stopped working!!! (after a year though).
Great Coffee Maker!
I have a talent for smashing coffee carafes, usually while I'm cleaning them. I almost never made coffee for myself at home because I hated cleaning the carafe. I researched (though my husband would say obsessed, and he may be right) carafe-less options and decided the Keurig would be a bad choice for us because of the pods. Found this one, and had to consider that I have a low clearance between my countertop and upper cabinets -- only about 14 1/2 ". This fits just fine, and makes great coffee. Cleanup is a breeze. The inside is a bit stained, but lemon juice should take care of that when it bothers me enough. Also gave one to my parents for Christmas, and they have not had any problems.
Great concept, not so great execution
I received this as a gift about six months ago, and I was thrilled because I am something of a Decanter Terminator--I am always managing to drop them or crack them or destroy them somehow. However, the plastic tank that replaces the decanter here is not dishwasher safe. I rinse it every time I use it, but it stains very easily so now I can't tell from the outside how much coffee is left. Also, the little white valve thingy at the bottom of the tank is warped or something now. Jiggling and pressing it back into place works only temporarily. I now have to keep a small cup wedged under the spout while brewing or I get coffee all over the countertop. I pulled my old glass decanter coffeemaker out of the cabinet to start using again.
I understand this is an early-model Brewmaster, so these two issues might have been corrected. I hope so.
excellent coffeemaker.
I have mine almost 2 years & it still works as it did the first time I used it. it keeps the coffe hot. I love it! I am giving one as a gift for xmas.
