It leaks!!!!
One of the worst products I have ever owned. It leaks all the time, even when I work really hard to get everything lined up perfectly, I end up with more tea all over my counters and floor than in the pitcher. Mr. Coffee is known for great products, but I'm shocked that this one is still on the market. It Stinks!!!!!

Still going strong 9 years later...
That's right... I've been using my TM3 since 2001 when I was in college. This makes VERY good iced tea without all the laboring over temperatures and boiling stoves, etc. It's quick, easy, and dispenses the tea directly in to the pitcher.

I have experienced some of the issues with plastic fatigue in the pitcher, and see how others can be quite annoyed by it. While my pitcher has some visible stress to the front of the pitcher, it is still watertight and going strong. The only thing that has broken was the hinged cover on the lid of the pitcher... no great loss.

It is my belief that much of the problem with cracking pitchers is a direct result of the method most individuals use with these appliances. Many choose to follow the manufacturer's directions and add ice to the pitcher prior to brewing to make the tea nice and immediately cool. I choose NOT to add ice to the pitcher for several reasons.

First, by cooling the pitcher to a low temperature with ice and then immediately exposing it to 190+ degree water, more stress is exerted on the materials as they expand. This rapid strain will accelerate the fatigue process, especially at the seams, leading to leaks and cracks. The degree of expansion is not as considerable when the pitcher material starts from room temperature, hence less fatigue and a lower incidence of cracking and ultimately failure.

I think it is important for reasons of product life AND TASTE to NOT add ice prior to brewing. Why you ask? Tannins. Tannins are polyphenols (YAY Polyphenols!) that are naturally occurring in tea leaves. When tea is brewed, these are released in to the tea, adding flavors that are USUALLY quite delicious. The problem is when you prematurely or rapidly cool a warm tea. These tannins will interact with naturally occurring caffeine and cause cloudiness aka turbidity. Cloudiness makes for a lousy tea to the eyes and palate, often making it overly bitter and decidedly not Good Drinks. ;)

Thus make your tea with an empty pitcher as I've done... add room temperature water to the 3 quart line, and let it cool at a normal rate. If you REALLY need your iced tea fix quickly, make it as previously described, and then pour over ice in a glass. The results will be superior and your Tea Pitcher will last much longer.

pitcher will crack after first few uses
I have bought 3 of these tea makers and although they make good tea, the only ones in your house that will enjoy it is your kitchen counter or the bottom of your refrigerator. The pitcher will crack after only a few uses. I originally thought that it was because I put it in the dishwasher, so the next one I bought I washed only by hand. It also cracked and flooded my produce drawer and meat drawer of my fridge. I wrote to mr coffee and they did send replacement pitchers.....They all cracked after a few uses. I later bought a tm75 because the plastic was not supposed to be so brittle and cheap. this one was designed so poorly that it still leaks everywhere. The drip from the brewing basket is supposed to drip onto the spout of the pitcher, but it doesn't line up correctly and instead drips between the pitcher and the brewer. It ruined the grout of my floor tile. Wrote to Mr Coffee and waiting for a response. Either way, DO NOT waste your money on this brand.

Nice product...mostly
We've had this ice tea maker for several years and it has consistently worked great for us. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because the (plastic) pitchers only last about a year before they start cracking and leaking. We've gone through three pitchers already and I am about to order our fourth. If Mr. Coffee could make a higher quality pitcher, this product would be perfect.

Mr Coffee Iced Team Maker a failure
After 3 years with an older Mr Coffee Iced tea maker - noted leaking when tea brewing. Thought it was from a faint crack at base of pitcher beneath spout. (though none leaked while in refrigerator...) Bought new TM75 - it leaks even worse! I thought I'd perhaps did not have the pitcher firmly in place - not so - it was perfectly placed. First 1/2 ounce or so flowed nicely into pitcher. After that - it all began leaking down front of team maker ! By the time it was done - counter was soaked; tea had leaked onto our Laminate flooring! Thank God I was right there to wipe up the spill before the flooring was ruined!!!!! Seriously dissappointed!
