Don't Waste Your Money
Do not buy this machine. The basket that holds grinds swings open, resovoir is unreliable to show how much water is in it.

Like the design, hate the coffee
I bought this coffeemaker because my glass carafe from my Braun AromaDeluxe coffeemaker broke. Since a new carafe was over 25.00 I figured I might as well buy a new coffeemaker to go with my other chrome appliances. i also figured a thermal carafe would be less likely to break and wouldnt need replacement.
I made several cups of coffee so far and here is my impression. When brewing, I didn't get that great smell of morning coffee. Instead, all I could smell was plastic heating up. The ohter annoying thing is the water gauge on the side. I had filled it up and turned it on (I believe the water level read about 5 cups). The coffee would not begin brewing and instead kept beeping. It was not recognizing that water was in the reservoir.
You are also supposed to pull the water filter out before adding water.
The coffee was not hot immediately after brewing. It was just warm. I was expecting SO much more, esp since this was more expensive than my last coffeemaker.
I am returning this and just ended up buying a glass carafe for my Braun. I am so disappointed but am getting my money back.
The negative reviews on here are true. I wish I read them before buying it is a cheap piece of junk that smells like plastic and brews lukewarm coffee.

Junk
Bought my first Krups at a Bed Bath and Beyond. Had it ~a month when suddenly the water that I poured into the reservoir came right out the bottom. Took it back and the nice people there allowed me to exchange it for a new one. My second one lasted a week. It continued to indicate that the reservoir was empty when in fact was full. It will not brew if the sensor believes that there is not any water in the reservoir. On the plus side, the thermal coffee pot is great. It will keep the coffee hot for hours without cooking it. I will have to buy another brand with a thermal coffee pot. I will never buy another Krups anything.

What is with the noxious fumes from the plastic?
This is the second coffee maker we've returned in less than 2 weeks. The DeLonghi model we bought before this Krups maker was poorly designed. Then, we get this Krups coffee maker home, and notice a strong plastic odor. Thinking it was just that "new car smell" that certainly would or should go away after a few pots of water had been run through it, we were really surprised at how strong the odor still was about a week after using it.
My sister was babysitting for us a couple of days ago, and the odor was so strong for her (mind you, the coffee maker was NOT even on or plugged in) she had to open the screen door in the kitchen to get some air to hopefully help the smell go away.

I am so glad to see other people having problems with the plastic on this coffee maker. The smell is almost like the plastic is melting, and there's a strange almost chlorine odor to the plastic when you get really close and smell it.
I tried to convince myself that the taste of the coffee wasn't affected, but it is.
This cannot be good for you!!!
In no way am I going to attempt to resolve anything through Krups customer service.........especially after reading how other reviewers were treated. I'm simply going to take this thing back to the store and hopefully find a good coffee maker that doesn't give off what smells to be dangerous fumes.

Should be Kr-oops, not Krups
Purchased this to replace an aging but extremely reliable Starbucks that had been around for a couple of years to many.

The first unit worked well for about four weeks, then started indicating that it did not sense water in the tank and would not brew. After exhausting all the reasonable troubleshooting, we sent it in to the Krups service center for repair/replacement. A complete new unit arrived about three weeks later.

Three weeks or so, and "no water" symbol started showing up again.

Once is bad luck, twice is bad quality. Don't waste your money on this product.
