Enjoyment made easy. The Saeco Odea Giro offers design created by BMW Group DesignworksUSA to please all coffee epicures who prefer a sovereign style. Soft lines and inviting shapes give this machine a very special character in every way. The components and features are placed to simplify its every function; just push a button to have everything adjusted to your taste. The Giro interface allows you to choose the amount and aroma of your favorite coffee, the drip tray height is adjustable and thanks to Rapid Steam®, you can create a creamy milk froth in just seconds. Made to last long and to offer the same standards with every cup of coffee, the Odea models make a statement in flavor as well as quality. With the Rapid Steam® technology available in the Odea Giro, it's just a matter of seconds between brewing your espresso and frothing milk. The long pannarello arm can froth milk in almost any sized container, and also dispenses hot water. For perfect-tasting coffee every time. The ceramic grinder is Saeco's most recent innovation, available in all new models of the Saeco range of automatic coffee machines. After careful research, Saeco finally chose this material to put an end to grinding with metal components. Ceramic is inert, and thus ensures the best results without altering the flavor of the coffee. Moreover, it is perfectly safe to use. The new ceramic grinder also provides a more consistent grind, allowing perfect dosing and blending, and giving you more control over the density and body of your coffee. And that's not all - the amount of coffee residue left in the cup is substantially reduced. Long-lasting, minimum noise! Thanks to its sturdy build, the ceramic coffee grinder will quietly grind to the same consistency and high standards for a longer period of time. The drip tray can be easily raised or lowered manually with a simple touch, allowing for different cup sizes. Espresso cups or glasses can easily be accommodated.

Customer Response
great except.....
My last job had a Saeco that worked great so I knew the machine itself would be awesome. It's really easy to use and set up and has some great fail safe features, like the grinder turns off if the lid is lifted. There are some crappy features though. It has a warm up cycle so if you turn the machine off and then turn it back on it runs a test cycle meaning if you have a cup ready to go it will be filled with water. This also means the drip trays fills quickly. Also the excess water container also needs to be bigger it needs emptying every couple of days. I found this out the hard way when I had company over and the machine wouldn't run.
Other than these two things the machine works great and I recommend it!
Saeco Odea Giro - one year later.
We took a long while researching what machine to buy and was told by the espresso zealots that if you want authentic shots you have to work for them... Meaning that you need to grind separately, hand press the puck into the porta-filter and pull the perfect shot.. and so on. So, ive had espresso in several corners of the world; so for all of that non-sense, I say 'meh'. We started looking at quality super-auto's and kept coming back to Saeco. Picked the odea-giro out for its balance of features vs simplicity, cost and previous reviews, company rep, etc.
One year after buying this machine and using it every day, we are pretty sure that I can finally say that the zealots are full of steam. ;)
The Odea is a great compact machine. There is a plastic feel but it is pretty durable and we have been pretty rough with it.. Its supposed to be an appliance.. right? We use the machine once or twice a day and more on weekends. Good espresso is pretty addicitive. We use oily beans and have no issues.
So the truth to all the haters of red-blinky lights and moving parts: This not a toaster with a crumb tray. This thing needs maintenance. Some of it is obvious.. Fill me, clean me, brush me off, wipe me down. The rest is not so intuitve..
To keep this machine happy you need to clean the brew-group under the faucet once a week. Its easy, stop whining. Keep the booklet near-by so you can diagnose the red-blinkys that happen with a complicated electro-mechanical device. De-scale, grease, empty, fill, clean and you wont have trouble with this machine.
I advise that you purchase the extra filter for the water tank. Even if you feed it britta water like we do, the steam wand tip gets pretty scaly. Hard water is the enemy of a system that boils water for a living! Fill it with RO if you can.
So enough. Its a good machine, get it, love it, drink espresso and be happy.
Defective Product, Irresponsible Company
This espresso maker was a nice machine when it worked. In two years, it required five major repairs (I stopped throwing away the packing materials after the first three breakdowns. The only people who really liked this machine were the folks at UPS). When I requested that Saeco simply admit this was a lemon and replace it, they passed the buck to the vendor; but it was not worth further investment of time and money. I left with the vendor for parts. Do yourself a favor: never buy anything from this company.
So easy to use... Love it!!!
I had a semi automatic and it was such a mess to use it. coffee grounds everywhere, wait to make a second shot, dump grounds after... If it is a hassle to use, I get tired of the product easily. This one is great. Load beans in the hopper, water and you are ready to go. I read review after review before purchasing this one. The two SS boilers makes all the difference. Steam makes tremendous foam using fat free skim milk. I am always watching my calories. I heat the milk and then pull the shot. You can dial the shots, long or short. It has 3 settings from mild to strong. When you start it each time, it will cycle through and dump previous water so always put a cup under the valve when starting. Several people have listed this as a problem. But it is normal operation. The frother wand comes off easily to rinse. I like it so much better than my last frother. It makes 3 times the foam much much faster. I love the machine. I would definitely buy this one again. If I had to change machines, I would not consider anything other than a super automatic and it must have 2 stainless steel boilers or better. Enjoy!!
Awesome product, have two.
I bought one of these at Costco and was blown away. So I bought another one for work. My wife and I use it evryday at home and many people at work. We have had them for three monthes now, never cleaned them and they work flawlessly. This is a great brand and great product, especially for the money. Great value. We also use the steamer for hot chocolate, and for hot water for oatmeal for our kids(use steamer valve with steamer buttom off). Low maintence, easy to use, and great coffee drinks. I wish it was stainless steel but then the price would double. I'll take it plastic and save the money for great coffee beans.
