Not as good as the orignal
We had an older version of this toaster oven (from 2002) and loved it. We purchased it because we needed to mount it under a cabinet to save space in our small kitchen. When it died after 8 years of use, I wanted another one and bought this newer model. I hate to say it, but it is disappointing.

First of all, it takes FOREVER to toast a slice of bread (like 6 to 8 minutes).

Second, there is no broil option on this model. I used the broil function a lot on the old toaster over and really miss it on this one.

Third, you are limited to 30 minutes of cook time with this oven. So, if you need to cook something for longer than 30 minutes, you will have to come back and re-set the timer for the additional time once the original 30 minutes is up.

Finally, it seems like the rack is too high up in the oven so food is too close to the cooking element on top. This makes it hard to toast sandwiches or bagels.

Now on the good side, this oven is bigger than the older one so you can fit a little more in it.

If you can work around the drawbacks listed here, it is a good oven and has worked well for us. Unfortunately it is one of those instances where a company made something worse by trying to make it better.

Disappointing
After having an under counter Black and Decker Spacesaver for over ten years, it finally gave out. We figured another would make sense: they are not too expensive, stay out of the way, and do a decent job at everything they advertise. Although there are exceptions, and this is one of them. It doesn't toast toast, it roasts toast, turning it into a big crouton before it gets brown enough. Why does the heating element come on and off, on and off, on and off, when it should stay on until the toast is done?!? The 450 degree maximum temp is a lie, mine could only reach 282 degrees based on our digital thermometer. Why does the oven have a timer? If I want to cook anything more than 30 minutes, I have to set another, louder timer to remind me upstairs that the timer is expired. Don't get me started on the disaster of installing this thing - suffice to say that if you have a lip on the underside of your counter DON'T BOTHER - it's almost impossible to find a bolt long enough and the correct size. Disappointing that it holds the Black and Decker name, guess the new company mantra is build it cheap, don't test it, ship it, and forget it...

Heating element not working - 1 year old
We had to replace an older B&D version of this spacesaver that we had for probably 10 years. We are a week over the 1 year mark with this one and the top element is not working. To toast we have to flip the bread to get the other wide brown.

The design has crumbs caught below the glass door which makes it difficult to clean them out. Could be a little a little easier to clean.

Easy to install -- too bad the timer doesn't work
This unit was easy to install and does a good job of cooking foods evenly, from toast to pizza.

The most unfortunate problem I've had is that the timer doesn't seem to work for toasting or the oven feature. If I don't watch my toast, it'll get burnt.

I long for my old counter-top model where you simply pressed the level down and had perfect toast in a couple minutes.
